From 30th October 2007:
- waste liquids are banned from landfill
- solid waste must be treated prior to landfilling
The environment agency announced on 2nd February this year that it is publishing new guidelines to help businesses & industry meet the changes to the landfill regulations that come into force 30th October 2007. The new rules will mean that waste must be pre-treated before it is disposed of at a landfill site. Waste treatment is good for the environment as it encourages the recycling of waste & reduces the impact of the waste we are sending to the landfill.
From 30th October 2007 new guidelines concerning landfill waste come into force & businesses will have a duty to recycle as much of their waste as possible.
